| "The General" and "The Twilight Zone" are, in my opinion, the two most brilliantly conceived films ever made. "The General" keeps you glued to the screen, with sight gag after sight gag. Keaton was a genius and this was never more evident than this movie. Kino did a super job of offering three different music scores, each giving new life to the film. I personally recommend Robert Isreal's score as it's more comical than the "adventuresome" score Carl Davis did. Don't buy the cheap release with generic ... Read More: |

| Before I bought this collection, I'd only ever seen one Chaplin film, "The Great Dictator". I liked it so much, I wanted a copy and at the time, this little set was on sale for half-off. I'd heard good things about "Limelight" and "Modern Times" as well, and so I figured,"What the heck?" and ordered the box set.

However, the storage box inside the shrink-wrap was so badly damaged, it was worthless for display and storage purposes. For a collection close to $100 in cost, we wanted the box, to keep the films together and to accompany the first boxed set on our shelf. | I love the early Charlie Chan movies. There are always many "plot twists" that keep you guessing, and it is a joy to watch old Charlie solve mystery after mystery. I think the scripts are amazing for early movies. (Sidney Toler is probably my favorite Charlie Chan, but Warner Oland is a very close second.) |

| Sorry, but I cannot agree with the positive reviews. While there certainly are some merits to make these old movies available at a bargain price, one has to see the great shortcomings: Most films are of VERY poor quality, but what really is horrifying is that NEARLY ALL of these filmes are SIGNIFICANTLY cut! |

| I saw The Passion of Joan of Arc first in a fuzzy video created by silent film buffs years ago. It was beautiful. When the Danish copy was found, I was thrilled. The local Dryden Theatre showed the film with the Danish subtitles years later while the film curator translated the title cards. The film was also accompanied with a piano film score. Since then, I have consider this one of the greatest films ever. If only Maria Falconetti made another film! But could it have ever compared to this one?
