| The sexual frustration undertones in this movie will keep you riveted!
The chemistry between Taylor and Newman are amazing. Set in a time in the south where everything was big. I reccomend this film to anyone who loves going back in time when movies had grit and a bite to them! |

| Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin, Robert Ryan and Woody Strode make this flick great. Hired by a train baron to bring back his kidnapped wife, they soon find that all is not what it seems. The acting is terse and intense and, for all the twists and turns, you're still left wondering what happens next when the movie ends. Not a lot of gunfights and explosions, although there's enough to satisfy. Instead, it's the mental game of cat and mouse that takes the forefront here and delivers pretty good. |

| Robert Blake is magnificent (there's a word I rarely use) as Perry Smith in this classic rendition of IN COLD BLOOD. While his murderous acts, along w/ partner Dick Hickock (Scott Wilson), are as reprehensible as they are senseless, I found myself captivated by Perry and his fate. It contains the motifs of this genre that keeps it's core audience satiated. | Despite the description given, this DVD does NOT have a wdescreen version on it. Only the opening credits and a few following scenes are in widescreen. The film then changes to full screen. Interestingly the ending also seems to have been truncated/cut off, e.g., not even "The End" apppears at the conclusion!
For what it may be worth, this film, especially the desert scenes, reminds me of "Hidalgo" and might even have served as the inspiration for that film. It has an excellent 5-Star cast and story but the DVD is a bust. |
