| I love this film. It's entertaining as it can be but historically it is way off the mark. The lyrics of one of song goes as follows: "...let the legend grow and grow....'bout those thirteen days of glory at the siege of Alamo..." I think this demonstrates Wayne's philosophy..."let the LEGEND grow and grow..." He had no problem with bending the facts a little to emphasize the glory that was Alamo.

| My Dad loves John Wayne. He knows everything about him; including that his actual name was Miriam. The Sons of Katie Elder is good. It's about her 3 sons who are argueing after her death. The Shootist is John Wayne's last movie coincidently beacause it is about a shootist's last shoot out. Big Jake is about a guy who leaves his family and has to rescue his grandson he didn't know that he had. I like them all. |

| These are not some of John Wayne's greatest films. However, all of them are fun to watch and come late enough in his career that he is relaxed and great in his own way. The fight scene in North to Alaska alone took thousands of gallons of beer and was a classic. |

The supporting roles are well played. His son, Patrick Wayne along with Christopher Mitchum do a very good job of portraying two dissimilar sons that have not seen their dad in a long while.
