| As stated in another review by Dean Winiarski, this is a very good transfer and a Region 1 DVD. I just got my third party copy and it plays just fine! Would someone tell me why there are dozens of garbage DVDs released in the USA every week, and I have to buy a classic Humphrey Bogart/Katherine Hepburn movie as a Japanese DVD import?! | I was searching for a DVD of "All Through the Night" when I stumbled upon this collection. My eyes opened wide as I looked over the selections on offer.
This treasure chest of films and a generous supply of extras made me feel like a kid who just got an expensive gift of Lionel trains. You could spend an entire weekend savoring this collection. | This a great American classic and I still prefer this version to the one with Patrick Stewart from the mid 1990's. I will enjoy it for years to come. |

| This particular video release is the best I've seen. I write this only to confirm another review which asserts as much in more detail. The picture is brighter and clearer, the sound better. As the other reviewer said, this is the one to buy. |

| The movies are exactly as described. Not sure if it was worth the price I paid though. I was hoping that there was a feature on the dvds to allow it to be either black and white or color , but there wasn't. Only in black and white. I saw them in color on tcm once, I thought it was great. Not sure where to find them though. The treasure of the sierra madre is one of my all time favorites. The main reason I bought the set. |

| I remember in an interview with Robert Mitchum prior to his death when asked his favorite film without missing a beat he said "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison". This is high praise from someone who made such classics as "Night of the Hunter" and "The Sundowners". After watching it you can see why. The film is essentially a two character story (the occupying Japanese soldiers are in essence extras) which gives Mitchum the opportunity to stretch his acting muscles. | This is a great WWII POW film in the tradition of The Great Escape and Stalag 17. While lacking some of the wartime action and battle sequences of most WWII films, or great chase scenes of the Great Escape; there is enough wartime context to satisfy the history buff and plenty of thrilling action sequences on the soccer field.
