Again, I absolutely love the old horror movies better than the new ones.
This collection is one of the best you can own by one of the best director's ever. I watch my horror films on Friday nites - that's my designated night for horror - all I need is rain. Don't miss this set if you like the old movies - it's absolutely great and great fun to watch and to remember and yes, it will scare you in the old fashioned way. A must for all horror fans.

Comparing the original collection with this one there are various inaccuracies; this one only lists four films and the original documentary "Shadows In The Dark" along with the new documentary by Scorsese, yet one reviewer here says this has all the films of the original collection. No where else on Amazon (as in by someone from Amazon) could I find confirmation of that, though the two sets are priced the same. The original collection says it contains 5 discs with a run time of 646 minutes, while Amazon clearly ... Read More:

It almost seems superfluous to add to the other reviews, but I'm compelled to tell people that if you haven't seen "Out of the Past", then you must. Fantastic characters, snappy dialogue and a hopping plot; see it. There isn't a clunker in this set; they all pop.

DVD : The Comedy of Terrors/The Raven
I enjoyed Vincent Price's movies since I was a kid. My favorites are of course the Dr. Phibes flicks Vincent Price: MGM Scream Legends Collection (The Abominable Dr. Phibes / Tales of Terror / Theater of Blood / Madhouse / Witchfinder General / Dr. Phibes Rises Again / Twice Told Tales) and The Raven. Featuring the horror master's of their time - Price, Karloff, Lorre - and a new actor - Nicholson. It was 1963, and Roger Corman was working with Price on their string of popular adaptations of Poe's stories.

A great movie from RKO Pictures, 1947, and I was between 3 and 4 years old!

Watching this classic and classy movie again I feel both humor and black humor as intended, noir, as the French termed it. Also, watching Mitchum being treated as a pin ball in a machine, soon makes you want to distrust everyone else in the picture, while looking for the frame too.

It was a difficult movie to be in as almost everyone of note ends up dead and only the two people you would least suspect are the only ones having ... Read More:

Even if you have the series on VHS or previous DVD releases, the picture and sound quality is SUPERB. The transfers are perfect. The extras make it worth the purchase. It even contains a disc with one classic TZ comic book from the 1960s and 1970s in PDF format so you can read a classic issue on your computer. There is an extra DVD in this set, a laughable documentary titled "Submitted for Your Approval" which is also available as a single on Amazon. Just noting it so you don't buy both and find yourself in possession with a duplicate.

Fete of Death
From the outset of "Night of the Demon," when the uncle is racing his car at breakneck speed down a dark, tree-lined street in the woods, his shifting headlights illuminating the tunnel of overarching leaves, you feel you're in for a thrill ride of a film. And you will not be disappointed.

The director, Jacques Tourneur, has crafted a classic tale of the supernatural. He uses the full complement of noir ingredients--dusky, shadowy streets and drastic camera angles--to convey a tone of eerie dread.

The rational ... Read More:

As an early effort in order to present Marie Curie's life, this film is good but really the image of this woman of science is not as we see on the film. Marie Curie was so poor and refused to talk with so many people. I think the performance for them, Pierre and Marie Curie are little exagerated by the actors but anyway...
There are some facts that are not real and are not according to most of the books written about their biographies. For example, on the film we see Pierre Curie's death after buying earings for Marie. That's a lie.
This fact never happened !! but, ... Read More:

Yes, "Curse of the Cat People" is a sequel to Jacques Tourneur's Cat People (1942) . . . sort of. But this follow-up is really the story of an odd little girl with a rich inner life. Through her eyes, we get a glimpse of what it's like to be a child, to live in a world where the lines between fantasy and fact are wonderfully blurred. And if you're going to believe in the spirit of Christmas, you have to look beyond the cold, hard light of the day-to-day.

Robert Wise's first directorial attempt makes something wonderful out of a story close to producer Val Lewton's ... Read More:

I never feel quite right unless I don't get at least a few of the references made in MST3K and this reprise of the franchise, and that's why I was glad to see Mike, Bill and Kevin return to top form in Giant of Marathon. Although I enjoyed "Hollywood After Dark," it felt a little thin on the good one-liners and too relaxed compared to MST3K...I laughed, but not much out loud. This one, on the other hand, shows that the old gang still has a lot of comedic gems up their sleeves. It starts out a little slow, but the pace quickens throughout, and near the end I was frequently huddled over in extended ... Read More:
