| I have never seen the movie before so can't judge what it was like in other releases. In the DVD I bought, I had widescreen, dialog in English and Japanese and two disks. One for the regular film and the other was the entire soundtrack with story boarded pictures. I found the dialog in English beautiful and well done. The picture and the care the film had in transferring it over into DVD was marvelous. A man and his two daughters move to the country in a new house while the mother is hospitalized. ... Read More: |

| This film stole my heart. I am not even an anime fan, but I reluctantly watched this movie on a recomendation. It is refreshingly original to say the least. Why did I not hear about this movie upon its release?! This is The best thing I have ever seen come from Disney! It will break you out of the box of ordinary movies. Howl's Moving Castle took my imagination on an emotional adventure which I shall never forget. Buy this film without hesitation. |

| Everyone should be able to view Hayao Miyazaki animation. This film is no exception. You must see these films more than once. Put the setup in Japanese and English subtitles to get a better effect. Watch the films once for the story and then for the background animation. Superb!!!!
I can't wait for Studio Ghibli's next film to come to the U.S.. It is currently showing in Japan. |

| I bought this DVD with a little trepidation after reading some of the more critical reviews on Amazon. While I'm glad I read the criticisms before buying this DVD (I always find that critical reviews tell me more about the viewing experience I'm likely to have), I am really glad that they didn't put me off buying what is undoubtedly a masterpiece of anime and a wonderful introduction to the genre.

| I love almost all of Miyazaki's works (with the exception of Porco Rosso), and Castle in the Sky is no different. Miyazaki's story-telling style tends to be rather slow-paced, which is fine, but I really enjoyed this movie for its faster, more energetic pacing. Almost immediately, the action starts, and it doesn't let up until the momentous climax.

| It is difficult to describe Porco Rosso. It's so different from the rest of Miyazaki's movies. There's no overt environmental theme being rammed down your throat. This is just a great story told well and by a master storyteller. The animation is fantastic, the visuals are superb and this movie has some of the most evicative music I have heard in a long time. This is a must-see movie. |

| I wasn't going to buy this movie because it was so old I thought the animation and everything else would be outdated, but I got it anyway just to complete my Miyazaki/Ghibli DVD collection. I'm glad I did! Aside from the music, you wouldn't even know this was released in the 70's! This movie is great, and downright fun. It's also the most humorous Miyazaki film out there.
That whole animation sequence where they're swimming through the aquaducts is amazing. The camera angles were some of the best I've seen. |
