| There are many films about loss released today; films that test the audiences ability to forgive and accept, to condone and condemn. `The Door in the Floor' is one of those films; a film that never allows room for an easy answer because the questions it asks are as complicated a question as one can find. | Although this film came out between the other 2 boxing films, "Body & Soul" & "Champion", in many ways this film outshines these two classics. First off, it features the late Robert Ryan in a rare sympathetic role as Stoker, a washed up 35 yr old boxer who longs for one great match. | I haven't actually seen this (yes, I know, "0 out of 27 people found this review helpful"), but fans of Harrison Ford will want to know about it because it's his first movie role. It's actually a James Coburn flick, and a very young Ford has about one line as an uncredited bellhop. As I write this, I don't see any mention in the Amazon.com listing about Ford's presence, so I thought I'd post the info for Ford completists. As far as I know, this is also the first time this has been available on home video. |
