I'm glad to have grown up with this great fantasy movie. I loved the story that you could actually be called up into the reality that the game is just hinting at. This even has a liking to Ender's Game in that regard. A fun video.

The movie is nicely paced and there are a few good lines. It is about the Mother-Daughter relationship and also divorce recovery. Unfortunately there is limited time in the screen play for character development. The movie moves along though and the acting is first rate. Sandra Bullock plays her role well and has a fine supporting cast.

When it comes to the "serial killer genre," I suppose Michael Mann's 1986 film "Manhunter" began it all. One could argue for Richard Fleischer's superb The Boston Strangler in 1968, but no matter. Mann's tight and stylish version of Thomas Harris's novel Red Dragon is a thoroughly fascinating work. To this day, I recall the terror felt during the early sequence when Will Graham (William Petersen) investigates the blood-soaked crime scene alone, practically whispering his version of the events into a tape recorder. ... This review is of this production, not this play--the play is great; this production, if it were music, would be frequently flat and off key. Some actors seem fine in their roles, and others are jarringly in-apt, if not inept. I want to like this performance, but I keep being distracted by the clunky manners of some these players. Also, the timing and verbal phrasing is often odd, even among the better actors, as if they were speaking lines from Ionesco, or another translated "absurdist" work. Saroyan is closer to lyric poetry than to absurdism. ... Read More:
