| It is an excellent presentation of Massenet's opera Manon. Of course, the dream cast of Natalie Dessay and Rolando Villazon contributes enormously to the enjoyment of this DVD. The production is first-class and depicts the life of these women, who are paid for by wealthy suiters, more realistically than in any other production.
Highly recommended. |

| i've never seen so many big names in one opera before ; also, nathalie dessay has a little role in act II, but that's not really highlighted ; it's definitely a must-have for anyone who wants 2 hours of not stop beautiful music |

| Get this DVD and also the Julie Taymore "Oedipus Rex" and you have two opposite poles of the mind and music of Stravinsky as well as the power of filmed stage opera and opera just for film. The brutal, gritty live production on stage of "Oedipus" is how that should be done. The dreamy, FX, studio production of "Le Rossignol" is just how that should be done. The music in both cases is perfection. They are perfect foils.

| Natalie is the ultimate Euridice with marvelous acting and incredible singing. She generously sprinkles sparkling high G's throughout the show. If she couldn't sing she would have been a famous comedienne. The rest of the cast is delightful. Bethone's Cupid, Naouri's Jupiter, Beuron's Orphee, Olmeda'a Public Opinion, all singing the wonderful Offenbach music. The Fly Song, The Kissing Song...
