| "Ray" is what I would describe as a standard Hollywood version of a high budget biography film. What makes this movie special is the subject; Ray Charles. We get a somewhat complex picture of Ray Charles with interspersed flash backs to give us "deep background". It was generally known that Mr. Charles had his weakness for drugs but I didn't realize how strong the addiction was. | I purchased this film to show my 9th grade US History class. It provides a good summary of life in the 'untamed' West. Also provides a brief summary of Wyoming becoming the 44th state. Finally, it has some lessons about how the legal system has operated (historically). |

| This is one of those times when the ending absolutely makes the movie. For much of the movie, I was holding myself back a bit. The situations were funny, but they were extreme, and while I don't mind unbelievable situations in movies, I enjoy them more from a distance. When I got to the end, though, it all made sense, and the movie went from a 3-star, average comedy to a 4-star comedy/drama.
