| Tried to care about this elegant, opulent saga, but this movie just comes off as rather pointless. Michelle Pfeiffer turns in a radiant performance trying to get out from under these overstuffed rooms and overwrought sensibilities, but can't quite manage it.
Her main problem, in my opinion, Daniel Day-Lewis here plainly just doesn't cut it as a leading man. His emasculated, simpering deadpan, dispensing dialogue medicinally as so much cough syrup, completely fails to engage as a romantic figure. Trying ... Read More: |

| This is, by far, one of the best movies. The story is moving, and will have you in tears multiple times. Tom truelly shines, and is one of the few actors that you no longer see as a person, but as their character. Very emersed. This will also question your thoughts and beliefs, and possibly make you reconsider the next time youre about to make a snap judgement. |

| I like the 8 episode version after a slow start. The commentary was disappointing because the comments did not often follow the visuals. They should have explained why they chose a '62 Thunderbird for Hoffman's character and then shot it like a contemporary commercial which is about escape. This was THE CAR at that time in which to escape and it should have been acknowledged. |

| It is just a wonderful movie that did not get any play in the theatre or anywhere else. I rented it for the first time because of the cast and loved it, that is why I have added it to my collection. If we all live long enough we will go through the same thing, it's also a different period of time, but I could relate since I was on the fringe of that generation and as I look at things now maybe it was not all that bad.
