| Jonathan Demme's version of "The Manchurian Candidate" was a favorite film of mine that recently came to my DVD collection as the result of a great price. Demme won the Oscar for directing "Silence of the Lambs" in 1991. I enjoyed watching the DVD extra interviews with him, only wondering why he didn't use a razor. :)

Trying to create an accurate depiction of the many realities and complexities of oil politics using the medium of film in which to do it is monumentous task, is it not? | M Night lost my respect with "The Happening", and I hope it's temporary, as I prefer films with weight. His films, conceptually, always seem to want to convey a deeper message, meaning or metaphor. This is welcomed for me, but this film, Lady in the Water was a mess. The characters seemed to be created like caricatures, and for me, could not be taken seriously. The film felt 10 hrs long, and the entire film was a garbled mess for me. PQ and AQ clear, but not the best. Technically-4/5. Film 1/5. Ugh. |

| I like the 8 episode version after a slow start. The commentary was disappointing because the comments did not often follow the visuals. They should have explained why they chose a '62 Thunderbird for Hoffman's character and then shot it like a contemporary commercial which is about escape. This was THE CAR at that time in which to escape and it should have been acknowledged. |
