I borrowed from my library as I do many movies. I tried to watch it but I, too, did not find any amusement and I checked the display and had already watched 37 minutes of it without the hint of a laugh. Does this movie start out REALLY slow because it just wasn't funny to me at all. I consider myself to have a pretty good sense of humor and I laugh easily at funny, witty lines. The bit with the guy who was under the influence of some drug was to me, something only young immature boys would find ... Read More:

I didn't see that TV show and I don't find any interest in the principle
of the thing. As british TV shows are usually first released as DVDs in
America, I wish for the release of SCOOP, a London Weekend Television production (the week end branch of ITV)of 1986, a VIDEO COLLECTION VHS in 1990. This 120 minutes teleplay was directed by Gavin Millar, scripted by Wlliam Boyd, played by Denholm Elliott, Michael Hordern, Michael Maloney, Herbert Lom and Donald Pleasence. Does that make your mouth ... Read More:

"Masque of Red Death" is definitely the best of the Corman/Price/Poe series. While many point out the well-budgeted, lavish set in comparison to the previous films, I believe this one is superior based on the story and solid characters alone.

It departs from the formula of the others in the series by being more tightly focused, more sinister, and the least camp of them all. It is refreshing to see Price maintain a sinister voice with his character that leaves little room for calling him "campy" or ... Read More:

I found this first season in the $5 bin at Walmart and said "it's got to be at least worth $5". I had never heard of the show before, but being a purveyor of old TV shows I loved it. This is definitely well worth the price that is on Amazon. Anyone that grew up watching the Disney version of the Adventures of Robin Hood should like this more realistic version of the stories. I'm off to buy the second season from Amazon.

THE BUCCANEERS was a half-hour British import that aired for 39 weeks on the CBS-TV network (Saturdays at 7:30 PM) during the 1956-57 season. In it, Robert Shaw plays Dan Tempest, a reformed and pardoned pirate who is charged by King George with the protection of the Bahamas (New Providence). Tempest's ship "Sultana" can also be seen in 1950's TREASURE ISLAND (with Robert Newton), as well as in the Gregory Peck version of MOBY DICK (directed by John Huston).

Besides Shaw, the BUCCANEERS cast includes Peter ... Read More:

How people like this movie is beyond me. Alfie is a complete jerk (and that's being nice). I watched this movie with my mouth hitting the floor a couple of times. Alfie was a complete dog and was just down right mean to women...and they put up with it. Was this truly a reflection of the times? Lord, I hope not. I understand this movie was up or won a quite a few awards and all I can say was that it must not have been too much competition that year. Skip this movie if you can.

7.Wish Me Luck - Series 1 starring: Lynn Farleigh, Suzanna Hamilton, Jane Snowden, Jeremy Northam, Jane Asher

DVD : Wish Me Luck - Series 1
"Wish Me Luck" was one of those quality British WWII dramas that turned up every now and then and resulted in an entertainment that is rarely found from other country's. The type of drama that the British have forgotten how to make as they look more and more to the US for indication of how to film drama.

It's narrative focuses primarily on two women SOE agents, Liz Granger (Kate Buffery) and Matty Firman (Suzanna Hamilton), drawn from different backgrounds and thrown into the mix of wartime occupied France. They join up for ... Read More:

Overall, good fun. The visual quality is just okay, though with such old films that might be expected. The choice of films varies from high quality to old Saturday matinee. That said, still glad I bought it, particularly for the opportunity to see Stewart Granger in Sarabande for Lost Lovers, and Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh in Mrs. Hamilton. Keith Mitchell's performance in Henry the VIII and His Six Wives is worth the price of the three-disk set in itself. For true old British movie buffs there's George Arliss in The Iron Duke.

DVD : Henry VIII and His Six Wives [Region 2]
If you know the history then you will enjoy this interpretation. If not you can take this as your history and learn of the reasoning and lack of behind this great time in history.

Riveting is to say the least as you expect this to be a documentary. Upon viewing you find that it is anything but. As with all BBC productions there is no equivalent. A few liberties were taken with history but you just do not care because you are too busy kibitzing.

The Six Wives of Henry VIII can not be told in less than six programs. Each program or play ... Read More:
