| I finally watched "Dreamgirls" last weekend. Mostly I wanted to see it because it had won an Oscar, or should I say Jennifer Hudson won the Oscar for Supporting Actress. What a performance! To think she came from American Idol(and not the winner) and is such an amazing performer and actress. The movie seemed like the perfect vehicle for her rev up her movie career.

| The last half hour or so of this movie is incredible. The fight scene with Garner, Bateman, and the large Saudi character is as intense as anything in 'Saving Private Ryan.' It makes you question yourself, how would I come out of such a fight? It's a brilliant and extremely violent scene. |

| This movie is hugely underrated, and often poorly misrepresented. At least it appears so from a lot of these reviews.
Perhaps as others have said, it was and still is marketed incorrectly, as some believe the absence of "War-like Violence" leaves much to be desired. But define war?? At least in its true, non text book sense and this movie will speak volumes. | I originally saw this in the theatre, after seeing Collateral and being told how this was similar to HEAT. I was pumped up to see in. After the movie, I was very disappointed, I felt like i just sat through a two plus hour television show. Expecting to see shoo-outs like HEAT, i was let down. Now 2 years later, I just finished watching it with family members who never seen it, and were expecting Don Johnson in pastels. We were both surprised. It was much better than I remembered and much better than they were expecting.

| "Ray" is what I would describe as a standard Hollywood version of a high budget biography film. What makes this movie special is the subject; Ray Charles. We get a somewhat complex picture of Ray Charles with interspersed flash backs to give us "deep background". It was generally known that Mr. Charles had his weakness for drugs but I didn't realize how strong the addiction was.
