| I'm at a point in my life where watching movies like this kind of goes against my nature. But that said, this is probably a better movie than a lot of people would like to admit. very quickly, these movies were made at a time when people felt helpless, and people wanted a hero like the dangerous architect.

| 'Am I Black enough for you?' That was the question the Right, Righteous, Reverend, Deke O'Malley asked of the people. I saw this when I was 14, in 1971 and have never forgotten it. Calvin Lockhart, Raymond St. Jacques, Godfrey Cambridge and the Drop-Dead Gorgeous...Judy Pace, made me sit in the State Theater and watch this at least 4 times running...right on my brother...Right On!!!

| this movie is a really good documentary. It's very detailed and tells you everything about the Donner Party and the horrible things that they went through. It might be a little boring for high school students because it's not a real life movie; meaning that it has old pictures and some scenery. However, once all of the horrible ordeals start to happen these students become very interested in it. I personally love this movie as a history teacher. |

| I wonder how many times I'll have to watch this film before I finally understand what happened? I've read the other reviews for clues, so I have a vague, very vague, idea of what was what, but I freely admit I'm still bewildered. Most of the dialogue seemed impenetrable, spoken in a code without a key, and the many locale changes made me dizzy. What exactly were the girls doing? | This 1969 version special effects are far better than an early 1950's version,also in color, starring Fred McMurray and Vera Ralston. The original movie version plot was perhaps better, not the special effects, since it offers a more up to date version of this genre. The Mega-Tsunami produced by the explosion of the volcanic island in the 1969 version is awesome and convincing.
