| Sure, it's a lighthearted comedy, a romance, and a fantasy. The plot has got about as many holes in it as your typical Hollywood romantic comedy, but I won't complain. This film really came in handy when I wanted to show to my soon-to-be-ex-boyfriend at the time what I was going through. | if you are a chap like myself, who enjoy movies that bit more open mind, One would enjoy this movie, if your not anti-gay. This ownderful moving movie that it worht the money you pay. It is well done and wonderful irish movie at that. |

| Brendan Behan would be rolling in his grave and would come back to haunt the makers of this movie. I have read the book at least 5 times and will read it again. Any resemblance to the book is purely accidental. The director of this travesty is trying to emulate unHolywood's BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN with his depiction of homosexuality. | Ken Loach's movie is always gritty, truthful, relevant, and very human. This movie is marketed as a modern version of Romeo & Juliet but it's broader than that. Instead of rivalry between families, it touches upon religion, race, generation gap, and choices we make in lives. | I watched the episode several times and had taped it off the TV.The cast was fine but Diana Rigg's character was not evil enough.And Aisling O'Sulivan's character should had been made more of a victim of her mother's acts in the story.Matthew Modine was great but he could had been given a better script.I did like Diana Rigg in her performance in Mother Love and Aisling O'Sullivan in the Wyvern Mystery.Both of the stories kept me glued to the TV.I still give this episode a passing grade but the studio should had done ... | I hate to have to write this because I am a huge fan of Matthew Macfadyen's work -- but this movie was D-U-L-L. Dull. It was heavy and dragged. And preached. And the colors were dreary. And not a happy ending in sight. The acting was extremely believable but I think this film was just not my cup of tea. Too heavy. Sorry Matthew. |
