| The Bottom Line:
Though it's refreshing to see Denzel Washington play someone who isn't a saint, his character is evil just because the screenplay demands it, not because of any intrinsic reason; as a consequence, the movie never manages to be about anything but itself. |

| No one gets hurt. That was what Hank Hanson was told and he needs money desperately. But of course, someone gets hurt. Actually, very seriously. What was thought a very easy way of getting money turns out a big mistake, and as the melodramatic story unfolds, things get out of control leading to more disastrous consequences.

Dead Poets Society tells the story of an iconoclastic teacher who teaches his students to love him; meandering and poorly-written, it's a mediocre movie with laughable scenes (e.g. the most pretentious suicide ever shot) and stereotyped characters. |

| This is a great movie. I have seen it several times. I use it when I teach my genetics unit and the students really like it, because of its modern ators/actresses and its twisting plot. |

| "Waking Life" is probably not like any other film you've seen before: the majority of it consists of philosophical monologues that express different perspectives on the loosely connected ideas which the main character is trying to explore. On the whole, these monologues range from the fascinating to the obnoxiously trite, and even though this film expresses some wonderful concepts, it also manages to present the cliche ideas in a completely serious fashion.

| Don't get me wrong, because I'm a big fan of Linklater's movies. Especially "Slacker." But I never really enjoyed Before Sunrise due to the dialogue which sounded too much like Linklater. Sorry, he's just not a good dialogue writer. That movie would have been better if they had allowed the two principle actors to contribute to the script. Well, that seems to be what happened this time, and as a result, it's a much better movie. This movie would appeal to romantic types. |

| Loved the movie so much I paid full price on Amazon. I love this movie for it's realistic and believable look at the irony of weapons dealing. It also points out the hypocrisy of certain democratic African countries. Also showed the hypocrisy of the USA that looks down on those countries. Also shows us there good people can do evil things when they have to. |

| But this is such a beautiful and touching movie, I had to tell others how wonderful it was. You should see "Before
Sunrise" first because it makes, "Before Sunset" that much more meaningful. Both films are cinematic masterpieces I believe. The reason is that both films are so "real" that you feel like you are eavedropping on this cute couple, who could be anyone.
