| This is, in my opinion, Lynch's best film. There are few director's that could play with psycho-dramas on a level with Hitchcock. Lynch is one of them, and BLUE VELVET like no other film, of the time ( 1980's ) clawed with perverse glee through the postcard vision of suburbia.

| "Giant" is a larger-than-life 1950s soap opera filled with all sorts of rivalries, oil derricks, class warfare, and cattle barons. Rock Hudson plays Jordan "Bick" Benedict who brings home an Easterner (Elizabeth Taylor) as his bride. Bick's sister, Luz, doesn't take none too kindly to new bride Leslie whereas ranch hand Jett Rink quite clearly does. Leslie herself is appalled that women are to be seen and not heard, and that no one seems the least perturbed that Mexican workers on the ranch live in squalid conditions.

| The Bottom Line:
While no one will acuse True Romance of being art, it brings a well-balanced mixture of Tarantino-speak and violence to the table and delivers an entertaining package; scenes like the one in which James Gandolfini stops trying to murder Patricia Arquette in order to talk about the nature of killing or when Bronson Pynchot gets caught with drugs alone justify spending time/money on the film. |

| I walked around blockbuster one day and happen to run into hellride thinking it could be a fun movie being that i'm a big 70's exploitation buff. I put it in my player and i gave it a chance hoping it'd be fun. | I love the film but... We get a two sides dvd, labeled "standard" and "widescreen". Standard has 640x480 pixels video, 4:3 aspect ratio, and widescreen 853x480 pixels, 16:9 aspect ratio. This is great, but the problem is both versions are truncated versions of the original. The widescreen is even more truncated ! If you compare two images, Clint has some blue sky above is hat in standard, and you see only half of his hat in widescreen !
