| Mainly purchased for the spanish version of Dracula was dissapointed w some spot freezing on the dvd. Cleaned carefully several times w no solution.Seems defective as others have reported on these "Legacy collections". Otherwise a must addition to any dvd library. |

| These five titles are good examples of Universal horror films both before and after the code. However, there is a little matter of truth in advertising to discuss. This is really more of a Lugosi/Karloff collection than a Lugosi collection. In fact, only one film does not feature both actors - "Murders in the Rue Morgue". My brother and I, now aging boomers, were allowed as children the special treat to stay up on Friday nights to watch Horror Theater (or whatever it was called) and scare ourselves silly. This was in the late '50's. "The Mummy" was a favorite, so when I found this VHS tape in the library, I took it home for Halloween.

| Guess who's a scarier actor than Bela Lugosi? Dwight Frye. I saw this when I was a little kid and I didn't even notice Mr. Lugosi. For all I cared, they could have cast Chico Marx or Lou Costello in the title role. I'm still having nightmares about the entymophage, his eyes protruding like Peter Lorre's, pleading for mercy in his husky falsetto.

| I was one of the many Classic Horror fans that got tricked into buying this neat,LOOKING set of classic Lugosi films.
Typical of this companies releases,the quality varies from decent to terrible. And EVERY film has to have the company's logo at the bottom,so no one can bootleg there public domain prints.....gee,thanks! The set could impress by rarer titles,but since many ARE available on other labels for cheaper prices(and better quality)it's not really worth it. | It's true, that great care was not taken at the time of shooting, but you will get past all that as you become caught up in the performances and story. Consider the slightly poor production quality as a rift in time as you become an onlooker right by the side of the characters. Hopefully at some point, a film archivist will doctor the original production. Don't know why it hasn't already been done.
