| I'm a boxing fan and train often but I have no idea why people like this movie. It's a story about a cocky, arrogant jerk who likes to abuse the people around him both mentally and physically. Most of the movie is of him degrading women, screaming profanities to them and hitting them. In one scene he beats his own brother badly in a jealous rage, stomping him and then slugs his own 20 year old wife. | Comedy is a dicey business. For some, it isn't funny unless it's current and political. To others it's all about how people get along together. Luckily, this movie gives everyone a chance to laugh. While this is a romantic comedy, with all of the usual "boy meets/rejects/gets rejected by/reunites with girl" plots, it is also a timeless look at the business of television, soap operas in particular. The only indication that this movie might not be current is the over-the-top 80s wardrobe.

| This is a great disappointment from Disney and an overall terrible tribute to the original. The soundtrack and songs were likely put together overnight by aging vaudeville composers and an "I wanna be me" adolescent girl. The music is absolutely laughable! The movie has no entertainment value to young children and would likely bore the heck out of the rebellious teens it strives to identify with.

| Sly plays a human being for a change--and I dug the hell out of it. He only raises his voices once--during a shouting match with the always convincing Ray Liotta.
Entire cast is amazing. You know who they are, so there is no need to list all the names. Smartly written and directed by the talented James Mangold.
