| CD has a good selection of songs, particularly for a formal wedding; however the last 5 songs on my CD were garbled so I can't evaluate those.
Worth the money, and I would buy again (hoping that the entire CD was clear and easy to understand. |

All the records between 1950-60's, except some chamber and solo piano music performed by composer and recorded monorual in 30's. All the records' sound quality are really great, like alive. I just purchased this CD because I love the sound of the organ, and wanted an album from a mix of artists before I started branching out to single composers. I would also consider myself an audiophile, only listening to high quality music with my portable headphone amplifier and Sennheiser HD-555's. | Mozart is my most favorite composer, Perlman my most favorite violinist, and Barenboim my second most favoriate pianist (Vladimir Ashkenazy being my first). When you have all three together, even more spendid!
I also recommend Barenboim's Mozart Piano Sonotas. I personally think it is the best Mozart Piano Sonata set out there. |

| if you're looking for music that sounds like a soundtrack for a movie you'll forget in 5 minutes, buy this disc. this music is really bad. at one point a violin line sounds like a vivaldi rip off, and you know what stravinsky said about vivaldi: "vivaldi was a very boring man who wrote the same concerto over and over." in a nutshell, glass's compositions sound like a second year piano student playing appegiated triads over and over and over and over............ |

Who doesn't know Tchaikovsky ? I mean yes, it took me a while to learn how to spell his name but the guy has supplied all those lucky who will listen with a lifetime of good music. This compilation starts of soothing and relaxing, just when your tea is still hot, later when it starts to cool off the tunes get rowdier and more mischievous. | I have a somewhat unique take on this recording.
I pretty much exclusively listen to pop/rock music. However, when I got my SACD/DVD-A surround system, I found that the selection of pop/rock offerings was very limited. So I decided to give classical recordings a try, since there seems to be a lot more availability for those. I have about 20 different ones now, mostly from the RCA Living Stereo series. Ciccolini's recording of Satie's piano music had dominated decades as finest set, but only because there wasn't any rivals at the time. Now compared to other superior recordings, his playing, highly sophisticated, sounds rather conventional and shallow. I get an impression that this pianist regarded Satie's music as some witty light music. I would love complete satie piano works played with more depth and delicacy (Leeuw's earlier recording comes close to ideal, but it was not complete set).
