| Perhaps it is the romantic in me that enervates a sense of anticipation when superlative musicians take up period instruments to play great master's works in the manner in which they were written.
In this case I believe that also means enjoying the work with a slightly faster Tempi than accustomed. Beautiful music making for beautiful space. |

| This is a great CD to listen to after a stressfull day at work. Debussy was an impressionist musician, or that's what they called him during his life. Most people don't know that there were impressionists that were not painters, so this classical musician is a breath of fresh air even for those that do not like classical music. |

| This is one of my favorite operas. The production of this opera film is great. Outstanding! I would recommend this movie. For me, this is a collectible item that all opera lovers should have. |

| This was supposed to be a magnificent return of Aida to La Scala. It is very disappointing. The singers and their signing and acting are OK, but far away of being magnificent. The sound of the Disc is certainly not portraying the incredible amount of people on the stage, in Act II in particular. Bluray technology allows for a much fuller sound. The worst of all is the video production and camera movements. The close-ups in the middle of the arias and the ballet make no sense at all and are really disturbing.

| For 95% of you buyers, you've not only heard the Haydn, the Hummel, and the Neruda before, but you've probably got multiple recordings of each (I think I have at least 8 of each on my computer, not including ones that I haven't loaded yet), so you're probably wondering why should you buy this one.

| After listening to a representative sample, I would argue this set is a bargain at 3 times the price:
Yes the recordings are much as Bach would have wanted them performed. Its as if you could enter a time capsule and arrive at the Thomaskirche just in time for the Sunday Mass. Most of the comments below about the sound or performance quality of this collection are due to this and not to production or recording standards which are high throughout. | I have this Messiah in several mediums, most recently on MP3. This is the best interpretation of Handel's most famous work. Ely Ameling is superb! The tempos are perfect - brisk and lively, and the chorus is on pitch, not dragging, and, thank goodness, not shouting and screaming, but singing beautifully. If you can afford only one recording of the Messiah, this is the recording to purchase. |

| The Dale Warland Singers "Harvest Home" is incredible. It truly brings in the essence of our American harvest. The intonation is nearly flawless, and the many details in each song make for a truly incredible CD. I haven't taken it out of my CD player since I made the purchase.
