| I discovered this wonderful concert in March 2007, during the Spring Break, as I returned to my usual hotel in downtown Long Beach after an excellent (and cheap) Indian buffet on Second St., where I always return whenever I go to the LAX area. As I turned on the local PBS channel, I saw Suzan Erens singing and didn't move any more.
The concert opens by the "Seventy Six Trombones" while Andre Rieu and some members of his orchestra jump out of a limousine and enter Radio City in New York. ... Read More: |

| I admit it: this is less a review and more of a compulsion to weigh in on the debate, as both a performer of early music and a longtime shapenote singer.
First of all, this is Anonymous 4, and these women are much to polished and professional to do anything less than magnificent. That being said, this is Anonymous 4, and they worked for years on perfecting their sound and in particular the blend of their four voices. | Incredible technique with the organ. One would think that what he does is impossible, but yet he does it. Musical value is questionable but entertaining. Reminds me of Virgil Fox at his best, but technique overshadows the music to a great extent. Loved the DVD just to see it all happen. This guy can have a great future, but the musical values must be improved a great deal. Fun to listen to and watch, worth the price. |

| The sumptuous tone that characterises Joshua Bell's CD provides what promises to be a brilliant listening experience. But for me there is a very fine line between sensitivity and sentimentality and too often he slithers over into unlovely swoops and slurs. Lush lyricism or sloppy sentiment? I don't think I will be listening to this CD very often but I will buy his interpretation of Tchaikovsky's Violin concerto which is a wonderful test of sensitivity v. sentimentality and see whether he will let the great composer speak. |

| In plain English, Jonas Kaufmann steals the show. Not that everyone else is not good, but he is so intense in his singing and acting that the performance becomes exciting and electrifying when he is on stage. Buy it--you'll like it.
