| I'm a hard sell on Vivaldi--too many recordings remind me of the 'sewing-machine' Bach comment of past years: rhythmically strict and sing-song--but these, like Carmignola's earlier accounts, are a breath of fresh air. Based on the pleasure his earlier recordings have given me (I even bought his set of the Four Seasons, which brought my total recordings for those works to five), I downloaded these without a second thought. You couldn't go wrong doing the same.

| I grew up on opera but not on Maria Callas. Joan Sutherland, Schwartzkoff, Victoria Los Angeles, and Mady Mesple (to name a few) crowded the airwaves of our home growing up. I had heard that Maria Callas was THE Diva of opera and bought one of her obscure recordings from a low budget bin while in Paris 10 years ago. It didn't impress me that much. | If you like this type of modern music presented in a unique style with some excellent voices give this a try. the style is not to everyones tast, I'm hooked and my usual preference for music is more like linkin park and evanescence. But i love this in heavy traffic on the way home, it keeps down the road rage without having to listen to archaic religious latin verse. |

| I was so disappointed with this CD that I bought a different Holst "Planets" CD. Zubin Mehta decided to rush through my favorite part of "Jupiter". The cello (I think) section should be slow and deliberate. The jolly clown is having a pensive moment. This part should be chewed finely and savored. Rushing through it ruins the piece. The rest is not exactly great, either. |

| I was very impressed by this version. From the first minutes you understand that new era of high quality video has already become. The image is so three-D-mentional that it's even hard to see something similar in our every-day reality. Modern HD-cameras create the effect of physical presence in the scene. I saw this blu-ray at 52" plazma TV, and I felt that I'm in the scene, even can touch any object. It reminds me of my experience in IMAX-theaters.

| Schiff spent twenty, yes 20 !!! years to study these Beethoven's 32 sonatas before he would record them and start giving concerts of the cycle. I happened to have the good fortune to be able to listen to every one LIVE that he performed so far. The last two installment will be in March and April, 2009.
The entire CD collection comprise of eight CDs but they are the best (on Beethoven's sonatas) so far. I have other complete sets. I am thinking of giving them away without regret. He is that good. Can't tell ... Read More: |

| How can I say this - if you have absolutely zero Christmas cds and want to build a nice collection, this is the one you should buy first.
From the robust and cheery "Good Christian Men Rejoice" in the opening track til the end this disc is full of wonderful arrangements, a few esoteric picks, and all around good Christmas cheer. | I like any kind of music, but I especially like to hear tenors sing. I was somewhat disappointed, though, because this seems not to be made in the recording studio but at a concert because some of the songs have clapping at the end. I wish I had read that when I looked it up. I prefer studio recordings. I was very disappointed with the recording of my favorite song of all time "Danny Boy", but all in all the CD is not bad. | "Swan Lake" has great meaning for me. I used to rent LPs and would play them in the basement of Fine Arts on the University of Georgia campus. This was in the '50s. There is nothing as soothing as "Swan Lake." |
