| As with the first Christmas CD that I reviewed, which technically goes hand in hand with this particular Christmas CD (originally they were sold as a set), I must say that this one is just as amazing as the other one. | I had enthusiastically looked forward to this live HD transmission and attended the performance at a local movie theatre. While there is much to enjoy in this version, the shortcomings left me with an overall lukewarm impression.
A big disappointment for me was the transposition of Rudolfo's famous aria, Che gelida manina, down a half step so that it peaks at a high B instead of a C. This is as good of a place as any to explain why I think transposition in a piece such as La Boheme just does ... Read More: |

| I saw a tape of another production of "Daughter of the Regiment" and it was fantastic. The DVD I received from Amamzon was different, although the cast was the same. The quality of the film was poor, the lighting was bad, and there was a different conductor. All in all, it did not have the same electricity as the first production that I saw. |

| Most great artist have recorded a "stinker" album and for the Three Tenors, this is the one. The album suffers from the lack of a good producer - someone to say "Ah...guys, lets try that one again," and "Do you really want to sing Winter Wonderland?" There are sloppy entrances, one or two flat notes, and some really bad song choices. With all the great Christmas music available, why did anyone think that it was a good idea for these particular singers to sing "Sleigh Ride?"
