| I view Stravinsky as being a gateway to modern music. Not only are these pieces essential to such, but they were conducted by Stravinsky and are, accordingly, a correct interpretation.
Listening to this CD will lead one away from Romantic 19th Century music. |

| I watched the Lawrence Welk Show for years and always waited to hear the big band pieces. The musicians were always superb. A lot of corny comments have come out of this show, but how can you argue with 29 consecutive years on TV!! All studio cats, these guys played together for years which produced a cohesive, clean sound. Their phrasing, intonation, and time is magnificent. | An excellent product. My memory of the old vinyl disk from which it derived ("Farewell to the Greys") is that it was better, but this one is excellent all the same. Probably the bands have become so famous since the first vinyl record they have gotten a little 'stale' with thousands of performances. |

| I heard this on a pair of Magneplanars at an audio shop, and then we listened to it on some other high end gear. That did it for me, had to have it. Very good recording, excellent sound and performance. Intriguing approach to recording. |

| The music is lively and great, but I could not play this CD in my car. I tried two other CD's, one burned and one other regular CD, and they both played! This CD did however play on my home boombox. Sad! The Borders store does give refunds on opened CD's either. They will only exchange it for the same CD, with a receipt! The manager told me to burn the CD and try to play the burned version. You would think the original is better than a burned version. | This compilation from LAWRENCE WELK, HIS ORCHESTRA AND CHORUS, is a christmas gem of christmas music. It is without any doubt, one of the best christmas cd's ever released. This release, 22 MERRY CHRISTMAS FAVORITES FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOUR HOUSE, finds itself in my cd player very often over the christmas months of november and december. | I am not much into arrengements of
great works, but I must admit that the music on this CD never sounded better, and will not sound any better than this. Canadian Brass did a wonderful job when they recorded this music, is as if the composers knew that some day their music would be arrenged for brass and again it might be the universality of the music it self that it or the simple way that Canadian Brass played or made it sound or more simple, a combination of all.
