| There's a lot of composers who wrote pieces especially suited for students. Many of those pieces are relatively "easy" to play, but are also very beautiful compositions. These pieces, and their composers, deserve to be discovered by a larger public. Thanks to Ytzhak Perlman.

| Republicans will hate it and Democrats will love it ... just kidding, but in a way, not. The Classical purists will hate this type of album anyway and the fusion/acid jazz/avant garde will get behind it and see its relevance and appreciate it's sound effort. However, Ms Mae is not a an Itzhak Perlman or Nigel Kennedy, she is closer to a volvo mechanic than to a violin virtuoso: I have a number of her recordings both live and studio, where she is trying to be the latter; this album is closer to the former. ... | A two star reviewer complained that this CD is not for the purist! Fair enough. Wynton Marsalis is one of the leading jazz trumpeters over the last 30 years and has far more jazz material released than classical. If we can tolerate Benny Goodman playing Mozart Clarinet Concertos, we should be able to cut Mr. Marsalis some slack too! | King's Singers Greatest Hits was disappointing. The contemporary music included did not have the smooth feel that one expects, and the classical pieces were all right but not spectacular. I did not feel that some of these pieces were greatest hits. I will probably go back to listening to older collections of their music. |

| I bought the original 4 record set of this music over 35 years ago! It has been a tradition to play the music while decorating the tree. I made cassette copies for my daughter when she moved away on her own----even to England. She has kept up the tradition to this day. We were concerned about the longevity of cassettes, so were SO anxious to see if this 'wunnerful' music was available on CD. Imagine my extreme thrill to find it on your website!! | First, I have to say that I disagree with several reviews here complaining about the audio quality or mixing. This is well recorded and well mixed. I can only imagine that the problems reported are some combination of equipment used and/or people have just gotten used to the heavy dynamic compression used on radio broadcasts and prevalent on most contemporary pop albums. I detected no audible distortion from recroding on the CD. I actually felt that the the audio engineers were on the conservative side with this recording. ... Read More: |
