| Perhaps you've played this game at a party or something: if you were trapped on a desert island with only one book/record/painting/etc. -- what would it be? When it comes to music, this record is my "desert island" choice. I've had my copy of the old original "red album" since it first came out, and after hundreds of listens, this sublime music keeps renewing itself. | This DVD provides a glimpse of Josh Groban when he was 21 or 22 years old, a world of difference from him today. His music is sweet and tender, as is his demeanor. A few differences exist in the music shown on this DVD when compared with his CD that came out in 2001; otherwise they are the same. | Yes, it's quite a claim. And yes, there's lots of room for argument. But, being an aficionado of Bach, classical violin, and JSB's violin concertos in particular, I'm willing to put my nickel down on Ms. Mutter's recording, especially of the A minor concerto.

| There's not much more I can add to the glowing reviews of this CD except to say that I'm surprised that "A un nino llorando" doesn't get a mention! It became my favorite on the album, even though the rest are excellent also.
"A Christmas Carol" is quite serene and nice, as well as "A Virgin Unspotted". Perfect! These guys are the musical male answer to Anonymous 4. |

| What a rare treat to hear such a wonderful voice! The music transcends the various languages( Latin, Italian, French, Spanish and almost no English) and communicates directly, beyond intellect, deeper to sooth the soul. This we expect from Opera and Religious selections such as Pucinni's "Nessun Dorma" and Lloyd Webber's "Piu Jesu". A favorite is the solo rendition of "Time To Say Good-bye". | In the best parts of these performances - those mentioned by Tom Lawrence, but I would definitely add to his list "Where shall I fly" - Lorraine's flame burns fully as intensely and penetratingly as on her great Handel recording with Harry Bicket.
(In case anyone still doesn't know, Lorraine's two recordings with William Christie are at that level, too.) Hard to find words for Lorraine. No wonder she made her husband think of Rilke: Words still softly give way before the unsayable . . . And ... Read More: |
