| Chato's Kitchen is a wonderful children's story. Is fun and entretaining. I'm an adult and I just love the drawings.

| My third grade teacher had the whole class memorize the entire book, and we said it in this rhythmic way and felt very cool. I still remember parts of it years later, and just remember how magical it was to feel transported to the kings on the elephants marching through the jungle on a wild wet night. We did all sorts of crafts and activities around it and our teacher really taught us how fun books and ideas and imagery can be. | My kids both love the illustrations and sounds associated with this book, but the library hardcover version was a little easier to enjoy than the big flimsy pages of this paperback. Still, I don't regret it for the price! |

| ISBN 0439104815 - Normally, I've got to read a book to know how I'm going to rank it, but this one was so very clearly original, just based on the cover, that I had high hopes for a 5 star book. Working my way through a shelf full of holiday books is turning out to be a pleasant experience and The Christmas Crocodile was a great start to the Christmas titles!

| My four-year-old daughter loves this book. She asks for it over and over. Tonight I even caught her looking at it under her night light. She doesn't want to return it to the public library tomorrow so I quess I'll be ordering our own copy soon. The story is beautifully illustrated with bold lines and attractive bright colors. And it is just as beautifully told in simple yet well wrought lines. |

| Thank God I bought this book before it went out of print. This was without a doubt one of my favorite books as a child. Never since has a book's illustrations so deftly captured the feel and character of the story. It is a book every child should experience and every adult should appreciate. |

| Reading books about cats to a preschooler, you come upon many books with more wishful thinking than actual knowledge of how cats behave. I'm thinking of those sweet, sweet books in which cat 1 happily accepts cats 2, 3, 4, etc. and they are all best buddies. Alas, that is not how real cats interact. | We used this book in a university class I am taking called children's literature. I was amazed at the quality and the brillance of the writing, it is remarkable. The language is so vivid and beautiful, that it could be out of a literary novel. The illustrations are equally as beautiful and the storyline is very well thought out and original. |
