| This is a good simple read for children with OCD. It helps them understand that they can "overcome" or change their thought patterns, most of the time. It offers advice for parents and chilren and helps parents and other family members realize that it's not something to "just get over!".

| This is the first book on my "So You'd Like to..." list, which is book suggestions for parents seeking to introduce their child to his or her own Autism/Asperger Syndrome. Although the publisher says ages 9-12, I'd recommend this book for younger children, 6-8, possibly even including kids younger than that. | We have frightening problems in our country (USA) and the world. When you read about the family in this book, our obstacles in life don't look so perilous. It is well written, captivating, suspenseful and touching. It needs to be read to or with children about ten and older, and some discussion with the reading will help children understand the setting. | Let me just quickly preface my review by saying that there are 11 kids reviews here which were all written on the same day. Looks like a teacher might have used the book as assigned reading, then had the kids write reviews. That's unfortunate; students who are not readers tend to be critical of the books they are assigned.
I love this book, and I'd give it my highest recommendation to parents who have kids who are visually impaired--as I was, when I was a child. Those with clear vision can have no idea what it's like ... Read More: |
