| I wanted to send a gift to a 12 yr. old girl to mark the beginning of menstruation and I choose this book after reading several reviews. I was horrified when her parents called to tell me about some of the testimonies from the later chapters. Everthing from rape, to 3-way sex, to teenage prostitution is discussed vividly. This book is intended for a much older audience, particularly survivirs of abuse. |

| i can't write in all caps, but this series of baby books from amy wilson sanger are our absolute favorite. i have all 7, and give them as gifts to lucky friends. so funny, so cute, so creative and a great way to learn about world foods, really. my older daughter likes to read the dessert sections to our baby and we have even experimented with some of the foods. A MUST HAVE FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES!
and, sometimes amazon has the 4-for-3 deal so you can get them all. |

| What a fantastic book series. My husband and I bought this book (as well as Shapes and Alphabet, also by Little Scholastic), and my son is completely enthralled with them. We read them daily, by his choice. The books are short, with colorful pictures and easy to point to and identify numbers on the pages (or shapes, letters). Some of the books have textural differences to make it more interesting for your toddler to feel the page and interact with it.

| I purchased this book thinking it would be in a similar style as the Eclectic Readers. I was wrong. It is just list of word with similar sounds or spellings. I suppose there is a logical progression for the material, but we choose not to use this in our homeschool right now for lack of exercises and activities to use the words. We need a more visually exciting approach. |

| Though the lovely and whimsical quality of the illustrations in this book would certainly appeal to children as well as many an adult, the thought-provoking content makes it most suitable as a prompt for discussion. Back in the day before I retired from teaching I would have certainly used this book as a discussion starter in any of my middle school history classes, as it makes graphically clear how the us-them mentality leads to hostility. I could even see it used as an allegory for schoolyard brawls!
