| My son received this book on his first birthday, and 3 months later was a die-hard fan :) I loves the illustrations and the cadence of the words. It's the book he brings to us when he wants to be read to. Highly recommended for your toddler! |

| We read this with our 9 yr old son. He's advanced for his age and was fine with the content. The affair the mother had is brought up several times, but is not more than "She kissed him in the car. A real kiss". It resulted in the mom and dad's divorce. The suicide attempt comes out of nowhere but is specific to the circumstances and appropriate. The boy in the story is 13 yrs old.
Overall the book sparks the imagination of children, and me, to be more prepared with the survival skills our culture ... Read More: |

| My five year old enjoyed this, but I found that I should have left it at "Bear Snores On". Just a bit too similar. Love the illustrations though! |

| We got this book as a gift and I have been reading it aloud to my 10 year old boy and 6 year old girl. They love it and can't wait for the next installment to come out next spring! A wonderful, innovative story that is very "real" with a main character that tinged with just the right amount of scarcasm. Tempo is good and the imagery is descriptive enough for those getting used to hearing chapter books aloud. |

| I am a huge fantasy fan and recently I have been reading a lot of young adult fantasy novels. Although I pushed off reading this for a while (too many books with vampires) I thought this was up their among the best of my recent reads. A good combination of romance and adventure that doesn't dumb things down for the young adult audience. The combination lead to a spectacular read that was difficult to put down. Enjoy it. |

| My kids just didn't get this book. There is no plot and the story (if you can call it that) is just too strange to enjoy. You don't feel sympathetic toward the pigeon, who seems to be talking to himself in a kind of psychotic/obsessive-compulsive rant. The illustrations are fun but I can't recommend this book when there are so many other wonderful children's books to be discovered. |
