| This book is full of spellbinding fairy tales with charming illustrations. Absolutely not the Disney version--some parts are not for the squeamish. This was one of my favorite books from childhood and I wish it was still in print. |

| While the book is filled with huge illustrations, the edge has been taken off the story. Part of what made the Pecos Bill story appealing when I was a child was the danger involved and the rough and ready lifestyle. This is just too "white bread" - boring, bland, yawn inducing. They completely domesticated Widowmaker (his horse), referring to him as "Lightening" for the majority of the story. On the plus side, the story retains a few more elements than Kellogg's abyssmal rendering of Paul Bunyan. |

| There are lots of great details about Johnny Appleseed in this book. We just happened to read it during September, so we got a pleasant surprise that we were close to Johnny's birthday. My 6yr old son enjoyed using our wall map of the U.S. to track Johnny's path from Massachusetts to Indiana (on foot! A point not lost on my son who loves to go on walks).

| My fifth grader loves colonial American and Revolutionary war history. with all the reading she has been doing on the subject, I found this a nice way to provide some projects for a learning portfolio. For someone homeschooling with a curriculum such as Sonlight that focuses a lot on books, this can add some crafts and color to the program. Don't expect that this book will be all you need to cover the time period, it doesn't replace a curriculum or good library books, but it is a great complement for a history program. |

| Great book. A wonderful way to give your children/grandchildren a background of the US. Got me to thinking about stories my parents, grandparents told me about family history. Very appropriate at this time with immigrants being such a hot topic!!! |

| I ordered the "A Coloring book of Incas, Aztec and Mayas" for my art students, as part of their multi-culture studies. The pictures were accurate and were labeled. I was very pleased and the coloring book was just what I wanted. I recommend this book for any teacher needing a color booking on Inca, Aztec and Maya cultures. |

| This is a very competent introduction to The Iliad and The Aeneid for children (the story really conflates elements of the two epics, e.g., there is no Trojan Horse in the Iliad). The book presents a plausible political back drop for the conflict (that does not appear in either epic but makes sense), as well as Helen's betrothal to Paris, as the catalysts for the conflict.
