| I love this series, being an Aussie and all, it's nice to be able to share a part of my first reading experiences with my American kidz!
Unfortunately this amazon provider was extremely slow on shipping (ony coz it was free) I ended up finding that barnes and noble were soo much faster I have two now but am happily going to give this copy to another young reader as a gift:) |

| These books, first published in the 1930's, are nostolgic, charming and sweetly illustrated. They're a great little piece of history both parents and children can enjoy.
However, it should be noted that the current publisher, Grosset & Dunlap, has publicly stated that these titles are offered for their entertainment value only and shouldn't be used as teaching tools. | I guess I did not read the description carefully, because I assumed the CD came with the books to look at while listening. So after it arrived, I ordered all the books as well.
As for the CD, I think the reader presents the story a little to quickly for very young listeners, not giving them enough time to contemplate the thoughts presented in the dialog. I would prefer she read it slower. Her voice is a bit raspy, and she does not sing the songs, instead recites them as a poem. I guess I am used to the ... Read More: |

| I read this book, and it's down right awful. Absolutly horrible, this book is, it's sad, angry, and misleading, anything but happy, a poor choise for anyone. If you can trust me, you will never read this book. Read something good, like "Grimm's fairy tales", "The American girl's collection" or Roald Dahal novals instead!!! |

| I know there are probably a lot of people that would gag on the sugary sweetness of this book, but as a book for little girls it is absolutely enchanting. Even as an adult I still adore its sweet little heroine and her bravery and goodness.

| This is in our Top 10 of children's books, and we highly recommend it for families of kids age 3 and up. Makes a great gift, and companion to Rathmann's other new classic, Goodnight, Gorilla. Helps kids develop the ability to interpret the story visually, without lots of text; encourages counting, I Spy searches...and yeah, it's a hoot. |

| I do remember that this book Castle in the Attic along with The Hatchet were my two favorite books in my 10th year probably a little later. Now I know that for all of its childish elements its actually one of your more basic fantasy stories lonely child meets exiled knight who just so happens to need his help in fighting an evil wizard. The fact that I remember it all of these years later is a testament to its staying power.
Overall-I don't see any reason why it shouldn't still work today I doubt it has lost any of its punch. |

| I purchased the Magic Tree House audio set because my four-year-old daughter is always asking me to tell her stories. Sometimes, I just can't get my imagination going, so I thought this would fill in my blank moments. And, in fact, it has done a wonderful job of it. We play them in the car while driving around. They really captivate my daughter. The subject matter is very interesting to children: dinosaurs, mummies, castles, pirates. The stories increased her interest in these areas.
