Bold artwork and simple text combine to offer an outstanding introduction to trains for young children. There are only a few words on each page, making it a quick read-aloud that will hold the attention of even very young toddlers. The text describes the different types of cars in a freight train, then follows the train through tunnels, past cities, in daylight and darkness. Satisfying and highly recommended. |

| I agree with other reviews that I don't think this book is as good as The Gruffalo...but I'm still giving it 5 stars because it is still a really great book. I don't think the story is as clever and the ending seems a little anti-climatic. But my 18 month old son LOVES this book...even more than The Gruffalo. This is one of the most often read books in our house. |

| My 8 year old son actually went to bed early every night we read this book so that we could read 2 chapters. Sometimes kids books just don't hold the attention of parents, but I truly enjoyed sharing this story. I choked up and had to compose myself. What a great story. What amazing life lessons, I loved this book as much as my son did. A must read. |

| Mr Scarry was my children's favorite author. Again, as I read Richard Scarry's books to my grandchildren they loved every character. There was a clear cut character trait and lesson on life to be learned. I bought this book expecting to find my friend Richard Scarry but, this did not even sound like his other books. I was very disappointed. Will I buy another Richard Scarry book. Probably not. |

| I am an obsessive Harry Potter fan, and a 3rd year spanish speaker. I've read the first book almost too many times to count, and decided to mix it up a bit and give my self a challenge (my parents didn't want me to waste my time reading it again.) I've been keeping my english copy, dictionary, and notepad close to learn new vocab. I feel that reading this has been a great way to get better at spanish quicker. | I think this book would not be good for young children because they might try to be like Sam and run away from home. Besides that it was a very good book and I liked it a lot. I thought that Sam was a very inspiring character, and if someone did try to live off the land they might learn a lot from that book that would be helpful.I would not mind reading that book again at all because it was so good. |
