| My sons 8 and 10 really enjoyed the bedtime reading of Greek myths from a collection by this same author - so we decided to try this "Classics" collection. They have really enjoyed most of the stories - and I enjoy exposing them to classics like Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, and Tom Sawyer. The stories are excerpted\simplified while maintaining key aspects of the language and key phrases "...would not a rose by any other name..."

| This is a destined winter classic for the preschool set. Interesting though because of its wonderful potential for creative expression, the building story can hold the attention of older children and yes, even adults. | This was a Christmas gift to a fourteen year old grand daughter. When I signed the book to her I wrote "don't let the title put you off. The stories are wonderful."
At last contact she was halfway thru the book and loved the stories. If nothing else it will give her another resource for decisions. |

| An excellent picture book by a fantastic writer and illustrator. All of her picture books are consistently great. Use of pattern and language which make children want to hear the story over and over. Pictures are excellent with lots to look at |

| The Blue Fairy book was a great book. I have read most of these fairy tales before, but Andrew Lang puts these stories in a new perspective. Most kids, are used to Disney Princesses and how all of them have happy endings, but in the Blue Fairy book there is a jappy ever after, but with a twist. My faveorite was East of the Sun and West of the Moon. It was about a poor man who has three daughters. | The Prydain chronicles, endling in the Foundling, are perhaps one of the best children's series ever written. The quality of the writing is outstanding, Alexander's descriptive abilities are wonderful, his characterization is flawless and his stories are enchanting. I read them all as a kid, and recently just finished them as a read-aloud series to my two oldest (7 and 9). They were as enthralled by them as I was as a kid. Great old themes of good vs evil. | I liked this book because it's about camping and I like camping. The fish had a great picture. Henry's mother was setting up the camp and the really funny part was when Mudge unpacked a ham sandwich and it looked like a bunch of leaves. His dad brought his guitar and a smile on his face because he was happy to be camping. It was funny when Henry and Mudge thought that there were bears so they were hugging each other.
