| Excellent is how I would describe this book. One of the best I have read in a while. It has somthing for everyone gore, action, romance, Sci-fi. The plot was great kept me from putting the book down. Cannot wait untill the next in the series. |

| This book was too simple for my liking. However, it is a great set up for book 2, which I loved. If you are a fan of Twilight or the Gemma Doyle Trilogy, you will like this book. It is has elements of "Mean Girls" and talks about Gossip Girls and cool clothing. I recommend it for teen girls. |

| I had to make a first review here in protest at such junk packaged as high-brow kids lit. The dark content is off-putting, but all the more so because it comes with an exceedingly poor plot & is written in an achingly moronic style. Honestly, I think the book adaptations of straight to dvd barbie movies exhibit better literary flair. I'll reprint here another reviewers thoughts that echo my own...

| I must start by saying that Terry Pratchett is one of my top 10 favorite authors next to Douglas Adams, Isaac Asimov, PG Wodehouse and Robert Jordan. | I have read many of the Magic Treehouse books while recently "studying" for my 6-year old's Magic Treehouse Birthday Party. She really loves this series, reads them ravenously, and plays "Jack and Annie" constantly with her friends. I read around 15 of them, up until now the first part of the series (this is my first of the Merlin Missions), and have found the books to be cute, quick and entertaining.

| "Eldest," second in the "Inheritance Cycle," is nothing more than a glorified clone of the excellent author J.R.R. Tolkien, who actually wrote well for a change. Christopher Paolini is NOT a good author and he writes demonic books that seem okay on the outside but are dark with evil on the inside. | A lot of teenage girls are claiming that the book Twilight by Stephanie Meyer "sucked them in from the first page". Funny, because Twilight didn't work for me (but that is neither here nor there)...but Inkheart did.
As a lover of books since before I could even read properly, I love the attention to details and description that Funke puts into this novel, and the shout-outs to classics (such as Meggie and Mo using Elvish writing from The Lord of the Rings, my favorite book). | It's been difficult for me to get into the Harry Potter books, having already seen all of the movies to this point. However, when the theatrical release of this film was pushed back into 2009, I thought now was a good time to try again with this one. THAN GOODNESS I DID! I've even started going backwards in the series.
