| After a few pages, I was sucked into this story. It's classic McKinley and reminded me a lot of The Blue Sword not only in tone and format, but the main character is named Mirasol, which called Harimad-sol of Blue Sword to mind.
As a classic McKinley story, however, it also has a few frustrating bits. The world McKinley has created is fascinating (like Blue Sword) and I want more of it. There is a lot of time spent on world building, frankly, and it can get a bit heavy. Read More: |

| I read this because I work in a bookstore and am often asked for recommendations. Based on reviews here, this is wildly popular.
I may have grown up on Nancy Drew and Laura Ingalls, but I realize times have changed. Even so, I won't be able to recommend a book where one father is a child molester and the other an opium addict. | This is a good set of books for the young teen with lots of fun and a mystery to solve before Nancy can. If your child thinks the original Nancy is too old fashioned then this will win her over as it is set in the "here and now" with cell phones, the internet and all the usual suspects of the 90's and beyond. Definitely worth a read. |

| Being an avid horse lover I understand my daughters desire to have everything, I do mean everything, cats. So, when I found out that Erin Hunter was placing this book out there I thought I should try it as my daughter is feline loco over the Warriors. Almost 13 years later I don't have to ask her about the book, she gives me the update of what she has read. This book is promising we can not wait until the sequel comes out. |

| this is by far the best book in the series. Alex goes to venice with his friend Tom. then sneas into the Ca' Vedova, the house of Julia Rothman. Mrs. Rothmans servant then tries to drown him and he escapes. Later, he joins scorpia. When he tries to kill Mrs. Jones he is captured by MI6 and then discovered the plan of Mrs. Rothman.
