| AMUSING FIRST READERS TO KEEP YOUR FIRST TIME READER AMUSED BY BOOKS. First, there are the great drawings by richard scarry...enough said...he's great. And the title is a pun on the word "pirates" oh by the way my son picked that up.....mom was a "duh" about that little pun. But it's a cute and funny book...and it's also about finding solutions which is really valuable since first readers are usually new to school and need to start learning how to find their own solutions for new situations. |

| This workbook has some good creative lessons. An example I haven't seen in other workbooks would be a page devoted to "left" and "right" - something many youngsters learn and forget. It's nice to see it practiced. If your preschooler enjoys workbooks (and many too, but hey, let them be a kid and don't force this on them!) | Definitely Scarry's best work and one of the few books I vividly remember from my childhood. It is a great introduction to geography and world cultures. At 3, my son was able to identify shapes of countries, flags and traditional clothing from around the world.
Very fun anthology of numerous 2-page stories from around the world. Charming detailed pictures, culturally relevant backdrops. Publishers: Please renew licenses for this and reprint it! I've bought "busy, busy town" and ... Read More: |

This may be a great explanation for older kids (as the previous reviewer said), but I got it for a young 5 year old who loves Richard Scarry and was very disappointed with it. | I bought this book for my 2 year old Busytown lover. The book has simple stories that are a good next step after baby books. The stories are longer and the pictures keep their attention. We read it so often that we will surely need to purchase a new copy when we are ready to learn to read. |
