| Scarry is a wonderful author, and I and my children love his books. However, this is not a Richard Scarry book. He did not write the text, nor did he draw the illustrations. The stories are passable, but have none of the charm and wit that his other books do. It appears that the book was written and drawn by someone else, based on a TV series, based on his books. I'm disappointed.

| This book from 1973 is still a classic for little ones learning about letters and words. This book was a favorite of mine when I was learning, and I was so glad to find out that it is still available. | All Richard Scarry's book are great. Have been reading them to children and grand children for over 40 years. One of my granddaughters loved this one especially and still, at age 9, will not put it away! |

| This book is about a farmer that has to go to work but he needs some help with it so he goes into town and asks Charlie Cat to come and help him do some work and he agrees to help him by first asking if he can drive the truck back to the house. | I was crazy about this book as a child. Over and over I loved hearing about a house overflowing with fudge, or poor Mr. Raccoon's really unlucky
day, or a 'sea monster' putting the fear into some bad 'pie-rats'. Despite a few now-un-P.C. details, like stay-at-home moms and a hippo being comical 'cause she's so big, the book is great for kids. Messages about safety, stealing, and serendipity come through in the many stories, and without too much preachiness. Adults might find themselves giggling along with their kids! |

| Over 20 years ago my parents came to visit me and the children in England and brought over several books for them. One of them was, 'The Animals of Farmer Jones'. They loved it. The last time I saw it, it had a chewed corner and the pages were torn, it was well loved and very well read.
Today my children are 28 and 26 and I bet if I ask them they could still recite most of the book. I'm coming to the states in a few day and will buy several copies for my friends' children. |
