| What an excellent book. Both the story and the illustrations are superb. From the concept of the young girl out on her own, with just a small nesting doll her late grandmother bequeathed to her, to the magic the nesting doll contains to help Katya release a spell brought upon by a nasty vizier, to the fairy tale ending with her saving the prince, the story delivers. | This novel is very much an updated version of the Prince and the Pauper, wherein the Princess is really living the life of the Pauper. As fairy tales go the author is very clever in adapting her style and the flow of her writing to be very modern. I have always like the modernization of fairy tales like the Once Upon a Time Series and this novel fits in well with this genre of novels. |

| This is totally up my fairy tale alley! I love the idea of the continuation of the fairy tale and I love just how real and likeable the poor Frog Prince came. This book has many fairy tale references mixed with pop culture that are just hilarious, and yet there is plenty of heart and a very sweet message. |

| we have very few babar books. he died so young, and his family cannot cut it. the later books are so bad that they're offensive. but this is the first and it works. the only sad thing about it is that babar was not brunhoff's brain child but his wife's and she has never gotten credit for it. she created the elephant as bedtime material for their children. he retold them well, and illustrated them as his children cannot but she should have been co-author at the very least! our kids love this book and the characters and if adults poke holes ...
