| The Prince & The Pauper - the title of this book pretty much explains the plot. The Prince, Edward, Prince of Wales (son of Henry VIII) and The Pauper, Tom Canty of Offal Court meet one day and realizing how much they look alike decide to switch places for a day. If only it were that easy - as circumstances would have it it's not that easy to explain the situation to people, thus it's numerous days before they are reunited again, during which hilarity ensues.

| I am a huge fan of Elisa Kleven's work, which is always unique, colorful, thought-provoking, and uplifting. Her stories and her illustrations bring wonder and beauty into a child's reading / listening experiences. The pages are full of ideas. When readers / listeners look into the images, they are transported to a magical storybook world that knows no limitations, no boundaries. Though still, the vibrant images convey a real sense of movement, of energy, of life.

| My 2 and 5 year olds love this book. It is a nice alphabet book for kids who are beyond "A is for Apple," etc. Each page has a rhyming sentence about one of the princesses, along with an illustration. Examples: "Princess Alice, first to the palace." "Princess Grace, making a face." "Princess Ruth, mithing a tooth." The sentences are simple enough for kids to memorize and recite, and the illustrations are clever and humorous. |

| My daughter is a very good reader and it's always a challenge to find something that is not too adult, but not too childlike for her to read. This book was one of her favorites. The characters were engaging and the plot propelled her on a satisfying conclusion, leaving her to still want MORE! | The Princess Diaries has been at the top of my list since I was about 11, and I'm now 17 years old and continue to read the series. There are now tons of books in the set, and I have not been disappointed with any of them. If you have seen the movies and it discouraged you from reading the books, read them anyways! They're much better. Thanks to the Princess Diaries series I have found my favorite author, and read anything by Meg Cabot I can get my hands on. I recommend all of her books! |

If it is a bit short, it is because (unlike the European princesses) almost nothing has been recorded about Nzingha's early life as a child, not the least reason because (as a girl) she was expected to accomplish little more than bearing her husband children.
