| While this book was enjoyable, it didn't have me on the edge of my seat for most of the book and it had a few flaws. Bride was a heroine that had major self image issues, which bordered on annoying. The ending seemed a little rushed and Bride has a complete character change in the last few pages. So that's my deal with giving this book a 4. I liked Vane very much, and could see the set up of the next book in the series, Valerius and Tabitha's, which I am really looking forward. | I picked up the third volume of the Mercy Thompson series in the library and loved it. I picked up another of her books through Amazon and realized that I loved that book too. So I bought all three of the books in this series so I could own them and read the series from the beginning.
I expected the first two books to be less well written than the third one, but I was wrong. All of the books in this series, and the related Alpha and Omega series are very well crafted. And reading the series from the beginning ... Read More: |

| I always love these stories but found this one to be overly contrived and totally unbelievable. The dialogue was poorly done and the character of Rachel was so self-assured I am not sure why she needed the FBI's help. During the gunfight at Slipper Hollow one character actually "laughed" as
he scooted along the floor to go get his gun...come on now you can do better than this. I did not finish the book. |

| I used to be a big fan of this series - the first two books were really gripping - but now I'm reading it mostly out of curiousity: I want to see what happens next. This book didn't really answer that question.
As usual, Kaylin knew less than anyone else about anything at all, she had to be polite to various people against her better (?) nature, and the end of the world was nigh.
