| 8 Yr old really enjoys this book. He said it helps him to figure out the kind of reptiles that he has seen outside. He even has a salamander he found and it has a lot of info and facts on it. |

| In today's society with what kids go through, the fact that anyone would think that using a kindergarten level "recess" song which encourages children to pull down someone's pants is acceptable material for public school disgusts me. How does the author treat his children, because I would never do that to my kids, nor would I encourage it. Gross! This was part of my child's music curriculum. | We gave the book to our Grandaughter, who is a first-grade teacher, and the children absolutely loved it.
It was an excellent introduction to conservancy of species. |

| This is a great counting book for toddlers and preschoolers, as young as age 2. I'm sure older kids would enjoy it, too, as it teaches about the different animals that come to the pond (and has more detail in the back section about the animals encountered). The rhyming and great pictures will keep younger children entertained, even if they don't yet get the concept of how to count. I love the artwork and all the creatures the turtles encounter in the pond. I'm looking for more books by this author. |

| My two young sons (now ages 6 and 4) have a large collection of DK Readers books. They love snakes, spiders, bugs and micro monsters (ugh).
I regularly read these to my sons at bedtime. The books are not scary (there's no blood & guts), so don't worry about nightmares. Nope, these books are gold mines of vocabulary words. Trust me, six-year old have no problem slipping in "egg-eating snake" and "molting" into a conversation...even at the dinner table. A young boy or girl who really like ... Read More: |

| This is the first book we got in the Take-Along-Guide series and we love it and plan to collect them all. The illustrations are lovely (although I find photos easier for a true guide book) but the brief diet and habitat notes were perfect for my 4yr son. The size guide and ruler on the back of the book were great to help my son get a feel for the differences in the species. Great for young scientists and explorers (I would say 4-8yr). Older children and adults will probably want more info than this book provides.

| This is another of the Eyewitness Readers series. Labeled as Level 1 --Beginning to Read-- I think that it would be a little too much for a real beginning reader. [I think of a real beginner as one who might start with the first Bob Books.]

| This book is included in a set I have in my classroom. I teach first-year ESL students and they LOVE this book more than any other. As a project I broke up the class into 3 groups who each were responsible for performing one of the stories in the book as a play. They enjoyed every second of it, even as high-schoolers, especially when there weren't enough girls in a group and a boy had to play Raisin, the "pretty white fox." His friend, Bubba Bullfrog, offers him many non-standard measurements that would be appropriate to use. All prove to be a pain for Milo, in more ways than one!Bubba realizes he has a yardstick at home to prove he's correct. What a great way to help children learn about equivalent measure!
