| I wanted a more comprehensive book than this. Too bad I could not find one. It covers fewer than 150 of the more than 1850 species, less than 10%. Some of the more noted snakes of the world are not covered at all. Not the Fer de Lance (does have a small side bar on this one), not the King Cobra, none of the sea snakes. | The illustrations are stunning. This book teaches about friendship in an amazing way. Blue does things for Peach that she can't do herself, and Peach helps Blue "see" how lovely the world is that he takes for granted every day. |

| Goodness me, but I am always thrilled when I can find a non-fiction educational text that will actually entertain students. I have noticed that this line of readers manage to churn out some truly great stories. Or information, in this case of science books like this. This is filled with brightly colored photographs that manage to hit many of the major groupings of our reptilian friends and the text talks about biology, physiology, and the impacts of snakes on the environment and vise versa. | Our pastor read this book as part of his sermon during our Christmas celebration. I loved it! It was a great story giving reasons for Christmas,getting the free stuff and helping the needy, but this curious little lizard finds out the true meaning of Christmas. I loved this story so much I wanted to buy it,(my neighbor attends the same church and said she got it from amazon) I bought two copies and my kids are 12 and 16. | What a delightful little story! McDermott retales this folk story with vivid color and all the heart that it is meant to have. It gives a proper little moral to children (and adults, I'm sure) told in a charming manner with gorgeous illustrations. Great to have around. |

| We love old stories including Native American legends. This is a quiet story of dreams, sacrifice, hope, perseverance, and rewards. With a lot of descriptive details, I believe the minimum age to read this to a child is 7. The black, grey and white pictures are beautiful, but somehow wished that some light color tone (perhaps sepia) was added. A great read with real texture for adults to share with children. | Growing up I didn't read much at all. My parents started to bribe me for each page I read, but it wasn't until I read authors like Bruce Coville that I really got into stories.
Jennifer Murdley's Toad is one of my all time favorite. Along with Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher, it's my favorite of the magic shop books. | I like this book because of the close-to-reality drawings and the flaps, but not my 1-year old. The loudness of the animal sound terrifies him. It's been 3 months that he's had the book and he is still not used to the sound. The loud noise even made him cry. |
