| As a doctorate student working on my dissertation concerning the impact multicultural tradebooks have on attitudes of children I found this book an excellent source needed in the classroom. Prejudice and misconceptions of "others" who do not look like or act like the mainstream culture causes an intolerance from too many U.S. citizens whose family endured the same years ago. Children can learn and sympathy through the reading of this fabulous novel.

| The other reviewers have covered this pretty thoroughly so all I can add is that, far as my humble opinion is worth, I stand somewhere in between the positive and negative reviews... it had the potential to be a GREAT graphic novel and started out strong but two major problems
- How Peter Parker pretty much "crumbled" in the middle, psychologically speaking.. if they'd given it more of a build up and spent more time on his mental decay instead of suddenly springing it on the reader it would have made ... Read More: |

Take this one. Papa Bear is often the foil to Mama's wisdom. Unfortunately, that means in this book he's stuck being the bigot, disliking their neighbors for being different... even though he's never been presented like that before. | Honestly I did not know what to expect from this book, but once i read the first pasge- i was hooked. The language in this story depicts the typical farmer-simple and straightforward, which i would like to see as a good thing.
Also, the characters are well-developed, completely believable and totally unique... not to mention the plot, theres more than the stereotypical love story in here. this book i believe can and will continue to stand the test against time. and i know why after reading this... |
