| I admit, it has been years since I bothered to read this book--kiddie-hood, in fact. I also never saw the movie all the way through until I entered college. | My son loves Mickey and opening flaps so loves this book. I have a hard time following the book because some answers to the questions the book asks are under the flaps and some are not. Not sure if this was on purpose or not. But...he still loves the book! |

| Three animals compete in the first half of the book to see who can have the most apples on top of their head. During the second half of the book, they escape an angry mob, happily collide with an apple truck, and end up giving the entire town ten apples on their heads as well. (What fun! | One of the best book in the series. The first story is where the captain and TinTin first met. Overall very enjoyable. I read this as a kid, but it was more enjoyable this time around. |

| Please don't pass over this book for the movie. That said, I like the Chuck Jones-directed, 1966 television production but that doesn't stop me from bringing this book out from November through December for a regular rotation in our bedtime reading.
Now, I haven't perfected a Boris Karloff-style narration but I do work up a good, grinchy voice for the bedtime readings. I think you have to act it out to get the most out of the story (read my review of "The Monster at the End of the Book" for tips on imitating Grover). ... Read More: |
