I do give Al's book two stars, probably more than it deserves, because the data do seem to show a slight warming in Earth's average annual temperature. However, I checked the real, revised, corrected, data. | This book is the best of its kind and should come with every boat. I am a licensed master captain with decades of experience running and repairing boats. I also run an offshore fishing and diving charter boat (ORION - Out to Sea Adventures - Port Aransas, TX). Unfortunately, if it can break on a boat I have had to fix it. | Inorder to relieve stress I like to wildcraft (find and collect my own herbs in the wild) this book has quickly become one of my favorites, its easy to use, and for some odd reason it has identified more herbs in the area that I live than any two of my other guides. I attribute this to Steven Foster, as I own numerous of his books, a great herbalist and author. |

| I used the Stiles and Skutch book for years, but could hardly wait for this guide to come out. It was definitely worth the wait. The S&S book has a serious problem with outdated scientific names and classifications. These things shift constantly as new evidence comes to light, so they have to be kept up to date, which Richard Garrigues does well.
This, plus the Official List of Birds to Costa Rica, published by the Costa Rican Ornithological Association, provide a good field guidebook and the latest checklist ... Read More: |
