The language is easy, yet not childish. Each composer is present in three parts, a portrait of the composer; a description of his music and finally some short biography. |

| The author discusses basic problems of piano playing in a no-nonsense style. He doesn't promise to make you a concert pianist with 5 minutes of practice time a day, doesn't develop lofty, far-fetched theories on true artistry at the instrument and doesn't mystify the art of piano playing.
Since most books on the subject unfortunately suffer from at least one of these ailments, this tribute to common sense is an especially welcome contribution to the literature on the piano. |

| This was a really good book. I had previously purchased the "Johnny Cash Up Close" book. And although this book did not have any reviews when I purchased it, I liked the Johnny Cash Upclose. So I figured I would most likely enjoy this upclose book. I was so right. The main reason I wanted this book was because, I was going to Graceland a week before I ordered this book, and I wanted to read a book that would help me refresh my memory on Elvis's history. | My 22-month-old grandchild loves this book so much that she MUST take it everywhere, even to bed. We had to order another board book since the first one is worn out!! The reasons why she is so attracted to this book are, I believe, the illustrations. They are vivid, realistic, and not too busy. | This is a terrific book with all the classic nursery rhymes and songs, with very simple music to follow along on the piano or just to sing. Most other books I've seen have a much smaller selection of tunes and the music is more complicated. It makes a great gift as well - I found that a lot of new parents are looking for something other than 'Twinkle Twinkle' and 'The Wheels on the Bus...' to sing to and with their children :-) |
