| If you are the parent of a young child, you probably know who Maisy is. She's a mouse with a duck, a squirrel, an elephant, and a crocodile for friends. Why the crocodile isn't trying to eat the others is beyond me, but that's life in Maisy's world. | The positives: There are bright and colorful illustrations that Lucy Cousins does best in her Maisy stories. The stickers are incorporated in the story which makes it a good "teachable moment" for your preschooler. (Meaning, your child has to find the sticker and place it in the appropriate spot.) The paperback book was not too expensive so it made for a nice Valentine's Day gift!

| Each of the books in Lucy Cousins's Maisy series manages to be simple and colorful, while still remaining interesting to young children. Children identify with the simple tasks Maisy performs, and adults can enjoy the simplicity of childood. I am an even bigger Maisy fan than my brother and sister! |

| This book is really nothing special unless your little one is wild about Maisy. It's a simple counting book -- "One ladybug, two flowers, etc." However, the counting items are not featured on the page. And some of them are downright hard to see and count, like 7 steps (on a slide). The pictures are nice and bright and colorful, so two stars for the overall illustrations, but as a counting book, this is very weak. I like "10 little ladybugs" myself. | I actually ended up getting this book at half price at a local bookseller and what a deal I landed! This is probably the most mileage I'll ever get out of five bucks. The Maisy Game Book includes 5 games that all take 10 minutes or less to play (give or take a few minutes). When you open the back flap of the book, you find not only a nifty compartment to hold the various character pieces and accessories, but also a spinner (that uses numbers for some games and colors for others), and a tic tac toe game. | Our one and a half year old boy got this book for Christmas this year and loves it. It is full of almost every kind of vehicle you could imagine (bus, motorcycle, boat, fire engine, sled, rocket, etc.), which makes it just about ideal for him at this stage. Each page says something like, "How will Cyril get to the beach? By tractor?" Then you open the big flap and it says, "No. By train!" It's another winner. Way to go Maisy! |

| My kids love Maisy. My son loves fire trucks so this was a hit. There are just a few words on each page. That helps him memorize the story so he thinks he can read. It is a board book so they can't tear it up. Big hit in my house. |
